Like stated in the title and most likely unaware by the new owners, I think I have a new rivalry. This new rivalry they just made with the defending champion is mostly not their fault and no fault of Karl actually. There is much to unwrap here, so I will not waste anymore time getting down to business. Hey Alexa, play “This is my Fight Song” by Rachel Platten.
Ever since Akeem Glaspie, who is an Indy Star Writer who does work on the Pacers, Colts, Indiana Fever, all high school sports, and even participates in another dynasty league joined my team, Yankees have had a lackluster off-season. Since last year, two owners have left the league and two new owners have joined the league and I am still without the grand prize winnings. I do understand that Sam needed us to send him our salary cap numbers for 2020, which I did very late, but I would have done that the day after the season ended if it would meant getting my prize money so I can blow it all on a vacation when we had the sun. That is besides the point now as when I do get the prize money, it will be going towards a nice summer vacation or a PS5. Willing to take challenges for MLB The Show.
My reason for this blog is to shine a light on my new rivals, who are the new Rangers owners of Dylan Lovering and Karl Schilling. The one reason that I am trying to make them a rival, which is completely their fault is Dylan being named Dylan. If not known, my last name is Dillon and both owners of the White Sox (My Cousins) are also Dillons. When you get too many Dylan’s/Dillon’s in one area, no good comes out of it.
It does seem like a slap in my face by the commish to bring in a Dylan before giving my co-owner, who was in the running for the Tampa Bay Rays at the time. The negative marks on Akeem was his location, which I do understand it would be hard to travel to our events from Indy. My rebuttal is, when the hell was the last time we did a live event? Even before Covid, we haven’t done much since our 2nd annual gala, which Phil did a great job hosting might I add. Akeem already uses Fantrax and is in a dynasty league, which gives him the experience to compete right away. It for sure wasn’t the magnitude of what we are doing in this league, but I know he was deserving of a shot.
On a note, most people don’t know is that Sam and Akeem were rivals in our Fantasy Football league, which always escalated to more than football. During a live draft, where Akeem drove up from Indy, Sam offered to shake his hand to call truce and Akeem denied the handshake to keep the rivalry alive. Could this now be Sam getting payback on the handshake gesture being denied? We could rule the Rockies and Yankees a rival, but I think it would be on the merit of our play on the field with a couple World Series matchups that were tough, fought games. Much respect to the Rockies and Sam Jordt, who does a lot for the league to make it as fun as it is.
So with that all being said, The Rangers are the team, in my own opinion, that should be owned by Akeem Glaspie. For that reason, I would like to beat down this team and if the schedule is right, we will get that chance in week 19. Hopefully this is all taken in all good fun as I do think the recommendation of Tommy, Dave, and Al holds strong as they all are great owners. As of now, I think Akeem has the approval from Sam (Maybe), Phil, and myself, which is a good group as well. I told Akeem for his chance at ownership, just stay active on Slack, talk to owners, and be available for when things do come up in this league. Looking forward to another great year and we will see you in week 19, Texas!!! #GetAkeemATeam
