Do you smell that? Take a good whiff. That is the sweet aroma of love and the fresh cut grass that skims across your spikes as you run onto the field. If you are new to this field, this is the 4th annual Valentine’s day blog (Don’t fact check me on that). We rank the best player-team matches that align with a player’s MLB Team and their fantasy team. For example, a classic match that didn’t end up working out was Buster Posey and the San Francisco Giants. A Giant relationship that Sean McGinn had to move on from and Sean stated (Not Really), “Sometimes the ones you love the most, you have to set free.” We are here to focus on the relationships that are on going and hopefully it ends up with a ring on some fingers. Play Ball!
5) Philadelphia Phillies – Rhys Hoskins
- Oh, there is not much better things than puppy love. Alex is one of our new owners and Rhys Hoskins is entering into his 3rd full year in the big leagues and hoping to continue his success in the city of Brotherly Love. Sometimes tough love from your own city helps keep the relationship fresh and exciting. The city of Philadelphia is kind of like your crazy mom who expects nothing, but the best for their daughter (Phillies). Rhys is a glimmer of hope for both the MLB team and the fantasy team and I see that success continuing for years to come. Only issue that drops him to 5 is that Rhys slept with the Rockies and you’ll have to live with that.
4) Chicago White Sox - Tim Anderson
The South Side and Tim Anderson are a match made in heaven. I’m sure when the White Sox were swiping on Tinder, it was an immediate super like on Bad Boy Tim Anderson. Bad Boy Tim is a shake up that the league needed as he continues to bat flip and talk shit whenever he wants to. I don’t think you are bringing him home to mom, but your friends are all jealous because he’s got some big balls. White Sox owners Kyle and Ryan are somewhat a definition of mischief in this league as they look for loopholes to get what they need. Scoring negative was one of the more impressive things they have done in this league so far. It makes the league that much more exciting and this couple is a flame that you want to see lit forever.
3) Las Angeles Angels - Shoehei Ohani
- This is somewhat of a catfish situation with Ohtani joining the Angels as he was this can do it all guy and is one of the more impressive guys who can go both ways. Seems like there are some limitations after some injuries and isn’t what he said on his profile. Ohtani met Tommy John and hasn’t been spending as much time with you on the weekends and now you’re upset. Eat your ice cream, watch your Netflix, and just be happy Ohtani gives you his consistent wood. Rocky relationship, but they are both in it for the long haul.
2) Washington Nationals - Steven Stratsburg
- I am not completely sure if this was #1 last year, but I know if t was close to the top. Probably the most functional relationship in this group as they have their rings and they are just living life at this point. My problem lies in the motivation and their idea of a good time most likely is going to a Chilli’s on a Saturday night and being tucked into bed by 9 PM. Nothing wrong with that on occasion as who hasn’t taken advantage of the delicious Margaritas and annihilating the chips and salsa at your local Chilli’s. I’m just a little bored now and I think they should start seeing other people. Steven should get to the big City of New York and become a star.
1) St. Louis Cardinals – Yadier Molina
Last, but not least. The power couple of 2020 and that is Yadier Molina and the Cardinals. There is sometimes a viral couple of 2 old people sitting together at a table where they are gifting flowers or just sharing a real intimate moment with no phones in site. This is what I think with Andrew, the Cardinals, and Yadier Molina. Just real love with real people living in a fantasy world. It might not be the same as when the relationship first started, but the love is still there and that is all that counts.
Notables:
Oakland A’s – Matt Chapman
San Francisco Giants – Evan Longoria
Chicago White Sox – Edwin Encarnacion
