Week 6 -

Week 3 - San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies

A great match up for week 3 as we have the pre-season #1 ranked team versus the Cinderella team of the league through 2 weeks.  The offense for the Rockies is a lot better than the Padres, but the pitching for the Padres has been owning so far and could carry this team once again.  If either one of these teams can exceed expectations in their weaker categories, then they should be the winner of this week 3, Game of the Week!

Hitters to watch:
San Diego Padres – (AJ Pollock OF Diamondbacks) – AJ has been off to a pretty good start coming off his 2016 injury, but I think week is where he needs to ball out and go 35 points or more in week 3.  With Peralta and Goldschmidt batting behind him, he should be able to score 10 runs this week as well as hit for a good average!

Colorado Rockies – (Edwin Encarnancion DH Indians) – Edwin is dealing with a new city, new team, but I think it is time for one of those hot weeks from him where he hits like 4 or 5 home runs and knocks in a bunch of runs.  With the Twins and White Sox on his schedule this week, I see Edwin being able to handle the pitching pretty well and get around 38 fantasy points for week 3.

Pitchers to watch:
San Diego Padres – (Mike Leake SP Cardinals) – Leake has been solid all year and he deserves some love for what he has been doing scoring 25 fantasy points per start.  I’m curious if he can keep it up as the Cardinals have not been playing so well in 2017.

Colorado Rockies – (Wade Davis RP Cubs) – I don’t think Wade will be the high scorer for the Rockies pitching this week, but I think he will be a very important piece if the Rockies want to win.  Wade goes up against the Brewers and Reds this week and should have plenty of save opportunites.

Projection:  Rockies win by 14 Points

Week 1 - Toronto Blue Jays vs. Houston Astros
This is a great match up to start with as we see the #5 and #6 ranked teams in the league going up against each other.  Both of these AL teams are predicted to make the playoffs and this could foreshadow a future playoff match up.
Blue Jays are without Price, but Astros have their fair share of injuries as well to start this year.  I believe who ever has the most offensive points after the week is over, will be the team that starts the year 1-0.

Hitters to watch:
Blue Jays - (Willson Contreras C Cubs) - Willson is coming into the year as a full-time catcher and the sky is the limit for this hungry catcher.  He swings hard, runs hard, and hits the ball far! Expect big points from Willson.
Houston Astros - (Francisco Lindor SS Indians) - Francisco looked incredible in the 2016 Playoffs and has emerged as a superstar player.  Francisco is now in the lineup with Edwin Encancion so expect his numbers only to go up.

Pitchers to watch:
Blue Jays - (Madison Bumgarner SP Giants) - Ok, yes this is the obvious answer, but with David Price out, Bum needs to step it up and make the most of his 2 appearances in week 1.
Houston Astros - (Johnny Cueto SP Giants) - Another Giants pitcher, but after a trade with Phil and the Cubs, Cueto has high expectations.  With a projection of 20 a game, it is a lot of hype to live up to.

Prediction: Blue Jays Win By 30 Points
