Angels in the Rule 5

Rule 5 Draft has been quite the snore fest so far, because it takes everyone 4 fucking hours on average to pick a player that will be in their lineup 3 times a year. We all have different jobs and different times we are busy, but I’m pretty sure that if you work at 6 or 7 hour work day, you are entitled to a 30 minute lunch. I will have to check with our league lawyer on that, but I can’t be too far off. That was me ranting and getting a little off topic. We are here to celebrate Rob’s thoughts coming to life with his Rule 5 draft to help out the bottom teams and punish the teams that are too talented. Overall, it does make the league more competitive, so it helps the league grow and not make the league dominated by a few teams.

We reached out to Angels owner on this special day to get his comments on being the first ever owner to have a selection in the Rule 5 draft. I asked Billy what this meant to him and he stated: “Even though I ended up with an above average player, I still feel the rule 5 draft is a pointless waste of time and should never have been implemented. Coming from the league’s worst team you think that would mean something.

Some strong words from a pretty weak team. Billy has not surpassed 2 wins in his team’s history. Billy looks to rebound in the 2018 year with it being the 3rd year in the rebuilding process. The Hot Corner asked him about his 1st pick and the pressure it brings to this LA team. Billy stated, “Yes there was pressure to figure out who the best player available was and I have to give all the credit to our amazing scouting department for taking their time to wade through all of the trash made available and find a serviceable MLB veteran to help our young team out of a rebuild.”

The pick for the Angels was Eddie Rosario, Outfielder for the Minnesota Twins, who is coming off a great year batting .290, 27 Home Runs, 78 RBI’s, with 157 total hits. This pick can mean only 1 thing for the Angels…..It’s time to trust the process. The Angels have a fun and exciting team and hopefully he is over all the fun and glamour of getting 0’s and is ready to be a hero.

Overall, the rule 5 has it’s up and downs, and I’ve heard way more about the downs from people. But 1 owner in the league mentioned to let a rule stay on a bit before you just go on and throw it out. Get to know this rule and let it sink in for than just 1 year before trying to start from scratch. A lot of snowflake owners in this league think everything should be changed because they put a post-it note in the complaint box. Our commish is a busy man and he needs some space. The Rule 5 should be interesting to see how it helps or hurts team in the 2018 year, but only time will tell. I’m Tim Dillon and you stay classy PFBL.
