Mariners/Angels Reach a Punishment Agreement

According to the last column in the PFBL bylaws, The World Series Champion decides one punishment for the last place team if it is deemed fair and reasonable! This years champion is Mike Duncan of the Seattle Mariners, who took down Sam Jordt of the Colorado Rockies. Sam was very close to having a Jordt vs. Jordt punishment battle, but couldn't get the job done when it counted. Billy Jordt was the worst team by far, but he is living by the phrase of "Trust the Process" as his team is on track for a title in the year 2024. For now, Billy as the owner of the Los Angeles Angels will have to face the punishment of whatever the Mariners have in mind.

I reached out to Mike to figure out where his head was at for a punishment. Mike answered back very confused as if he wasn't sure that he won the league or was not sure he got to punish the last place team. (Side note: Our league's concussion protocol needs to get better ASAP!) After reviewing the bylaws with Mike, he then remembered that he was in the power seat and began to brainstorm for the next 8-12 seconds, when an idea finally struck. Mike stated,

"I would like to get the GM of that team (Angels) a pink Cubs jersey with his initials on the back "BJ" then take him to a Cubs game this season where he needs to wear it. Tickets for him and I will be paid for by the Mariners front office, but encourage the rest of the leagues GMs to join us."

When hearing this idea, my first thought was BJ means blowjob....nice. But then remembered it is also the Angels GMs initials so kind of bummed me out. I decided to then reach out to Billy to see what he thought of the idea and he was in shock that this was an actual punishment. Billy stated that a free Cubs game for last place sound like a bonus! Billy then stated I am very glad to accept this "punishment." If this does get upheld by the commissioners office, it will be a great event for all GMs to attend and have a good time together!

To get a better grasp of what this Cubs game could be I reached out to Cubs GM, Phillip Kawabata and Head of Franchise engagement to see what he thought. Phil replied, "It's a phenomenal idea and I commend the Mariners organization for such creative thinking. That's why they win championships folks." Phil then followed up stating that after the winter meetings are wrapped up for the PFBL, it will be his top priority as Head of Franchise Engagement to find the best day for this event to take place.

The Hot Corner will be working around the clock to get more information on the story. Stay tuned
