Out with the Old, In with the New

As the day came to a close on Tuesday, a new Owner and GM was welcomed into the Professional Fantasy Baseball League, Scotty Czarnik. A young baseball enthusiast, with close ties to the low-balling Miami Marlins, purchased the Cleveland Indians from past owner Kyle Kachmer. The Hot Corner reached out to Mr. Kachmer for comment but was told by his press secretary, “Mr. Kachmer lives and operates out of Colorado, I wouldn’t presume to know how he spends his time when he’s high.”
After signing a few papers and sending in his financials, Scotty made a blockbuster style announcement. The Cleveland Indians would be packing up the clubhouse and taking their talents to the Paris of the Plains, Kansas City.
When asked what interested him into owning a major league club, Czarnik said, “I’m trying to create something good here, Jimmy. Something unique. I want to build something people will remember forever. People remember the 108 losing years of the Cubs, right? What is the Royals won it 108 years in a row? We’re going to make this the ride of a lifetime in Kansas City.”
Having worked as a scout for many years, and been in the front office of other organizations, I peppered Scotty, looking for what changes he might bring to the clubhouse. He said, “It’s all about the environment. You need to create an ELE environment (everybody love everybody). From there the possibilities are endless. I love a drama free life, if you have a drama free clubhouse, you win. Simple.” Czarnik doubled down on the mentality and stated that he would go so far as to have players “hit the bus out of town” if they refused to get with his process. It sure makes a Big J Journ-o like me wonder if that mentality had anything to do with the trading of young Jose Ramirez. With a decent starting lineup and a solid bullpen, look for the Kansas City Royals to make a push to the top of a weak AL Central.
From all of us at The Hot Corner, we look forward to covering the PFB 2017 season. See you all at the Winter Owners meetings.
