Cy Young Robbery

Tonight was a big night in the MLB and the Professional Fantasy Baseball League as the Cy Young Awards were being passed out for both conferences as well as nice pay out to the organizations who owned both of these players. The award could of went either way for both the NL and AL with strong contenders all around. In the NL, Kyle Hendricks and Jon Lester were on the best regular season team with 103 wins and both dominated throughout the year. Max Scherzer joined the NL candidates with a 20 win season, a league-leading WHIP, and a high number of strikeouts. For the American League, it was a 2-man race between Justin Verlander and Rick Porcello. Both players had great years and both fit deserving of the award.

For the National League, Max Scherzer of the San Francisco Giants took home the Cy Young Trophy in commanding fashion with Jon Lester finishing 2nd, and Kyle Hendricks finishing 3rd. Max didn't have a problem winning, but Lester and Hendricks both easily could of taken home the trophy with their great ERA, WHIP, and the fact they both played on the best team in the whole damn league. We reached out to the owner of the San Francisco Giants, Sean McGinn and asked him to comment on the Cy Young trophy and is Max Scherzer deserving of the award. McGinn replied, "Both Jon and Kyle had great years that definitely deserved the award. I am biased to my guy (Max), but any of the three would have been great selections. Tough to argue any of them." Couldn't agree more with a very classy Giants owner in Sean as the Reds and Mariners fall just short of winning the award. Even with the Giants having a not so good year, I asked the Giants owner to comment on Scherzer's 2016 campaign and journey. Sean had much to say about his ace of the staff.

"Well, Max being a first round pick came in with a lot of expectations and he didn't disappoint both on the field and in the clubhouse. You were able to see his dominance on the mound with the strikeouts and his ability to get guys out. He'll tell you about the amount of home runs he gave up because that's the kind of guy he is. I wouldn't be surprised if he came back better next year. But his presence in our clubhouse was almost as valued as his performance in the mound. He was a leader in our clubhouse from day one. Something that wasn't covered much by the media is when we struggled early in the season Maxie called a players only meeting and really spoke to the guys and let the guys speak as well. And that's when we really turned it around. Max is both a cy young player and a cy young guy for us."

Well said and the Giants will try and take this momentum into the 2017 year. McGinn added that the winnings from this award will go straight back into his entry fee for the 2017 year.

The American League was much more controversial with the winner of the Cy Young and it got pretty intense. Rick Porcello of the Colorado Rockies won the AL Cy Young with 8 first place votes and Justin Verlander finished 2nd with 14 first place votes (Enter Nick Young Confused Image). 2 writers did not even include Verlander on the ballot and it lead Kate Upton to tweet, "I thought I was the only one to fuck Justin Verlander" As the Yankees owner, I respect and back up her comments and agree that Veralnder got fucked. Justin put together a great season and even if the wins weren't all there, his stats were Cy Young worthy. Porcello deserved it as well, but the way it went down, it doesn't seem like he was the most deserving. I messaged with Sam Jordt, Rockies owners and he made a statement on his mid-season acquisition, Rick Porcello.

"Great season, good arm, knew we had to add an arm or two at the deadline. We targeted Rick as the best available on the market. I reached out to the Nationals and we were able to strike a deal. Pretty clear who won that trade." Sam also added, "I'm the only one who fucks Kate Upton."

Bold words from a bold owner. Sam is totally backing his pitcher as the most deserving pitcher of this award and he plans on investing the money he won back into the park and putting a winner on the field for all of Rockies fan. Rockies fan, I encourage you all to light one up for Rick Porcello tonight!
